brays bayou greenway

Brays is the first Bayou Greenway the Houston Parks Board developed in close partnership with the Brays Bayou Association, East End Management District, City of Houston, Harris County Flood Control District, and Trust for Public Land. Our work on acquiring and connecting green spaces along Brays Bayou prompted the renewed vision of making all of our major bayous an interconnected system of parks and trails. Thanks to gifts from The Brown Foundation, Inc., Houston Endowment Inc., the Wortham Foundation, Inc., and a Coastal Estuarine Land Conservation grant, we have completed land acquisition, a trailhead and trail construction from Broadway Avenue to the railroad bridge at Mason Park. We have also completed additional land acquisitions to extend the greenway to Old Spanish Trail at Wheeler. Thanks to a Transportation Enhancement matching grant of $1.9 million from Texas Department of Transportation, we will now build the trails from Mason Park to Old Spanish Trail just beyond Gragg Park.
