Creating, Improving, PROTECTING

Parkland in the Greater Houston region

The Houston Parks Board is a non-profit organization created in 1976 as a partner to the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department dedicated to parkland acquisition and capital improvements to Houston parks. Since inception, the Houston Parks Board has added over 13,000 acres of strategically located parkland to the city’s inventory and made over $70 million in capital improvements. Through acquisition and improvements, we create spaces for people to enjoy active recreation and respite from the urban environment in protected green spaces.
